*****When I was 12 years old I started to look for my
ancestors. I never thought that there are so many people in the world
who have the name PE(E)NE(N), (VAN)(DE)PEENE(N), PENE(N),
VANSUY(T)PEENE, SUPEENE, PAYNE or PAINE.
*****Everyone who has the name PEENE in Belgium is a descendant of Michiel
(DU)PEENE and his wife Sabine ROGIER. They lived about 1620 in Moorslede
(Belgium).A few generations before them (maybe one or two) there must be a
link with de family VANDEPEENE. This family lives now in the area of Kortrijk
(Belgium).
*****A great number of people with the name VANPEENE where settled in the
area of Gent(Belgium). This genealogy starts about 1600 in Gent. One of this
descendants was Hypoliet VAN PEENE, who
created the text for the Flemisch hymne: "De Vlaamse Leeuw" (The Flemisch
Lion).
*****In the area of Antwerpen(Belgium) we find the name PE(E)NE(N). Their
ancestors must be found in the Netherlands.
*****The family VANSUY(T)PEENE and SUPEENE is situated in the area of
Roeselare(B). Their ancestors lived in Rumbeke (B). Several members of
this family emigrate to the U.S.A with the name SUPEENE.
*****And last but not least, we have the family PEEN(E) and
PAYNE in England and the U.S.A. We found
their ancestors in the area of London(U.K.).
*****This are the great lines for the family PEENE. I'm nearly sure that the
roots of all those families must be found in Flanders.
